WHAT MODALITY IS
THIS?
EAR CANDLING
by NICOLE CARTER
(Ear Candling Practitioner)
Ear Candling is a natural ear cleaning technique which began
centuries ago. It has been passed down for many generations by North
American Indians - the Hopi tribe. There are also records of its use in
Ancient Chinese, Tibetan and Egyptian cultures. These societies used ear
candling in healing and promoting spiritual purification. In Ancient
times, hollow reeds or corn stalks were used and a Shaman or medicine man
often performed the process.
Ear candling is a non invasive natural procedure. This gentle method
assists in removing excess ear wax, fluids and residual toxins from past
infections. It may greatly improve the following conditions:
Sinusitis
Blocked or irritated ears
Some chronic headaches
Tinnitus - ringing in the ears
Hearing problems
Vertigo
Such effects are possible because all the passages in the head are
interconnected. The candling process allows drainage to occur asmotically
through the membrane in the ear. It draws from the ear, sinuses and the
lymph glands. Many people report that their breathing, their sense of
smell or taste also improves after treatment.
An ear candle is a long hollow tube generally made of unbleached fabric
impregnated with beeswax, paraffin wax, and essential oils. The candle is
lit at one end and the other end usually via a funnel is placed in the
ear. The heat of the smoke softens the wax in the ear and the vacuum
created draws the old wax, fluid and toxins out of the ear and into the
candle. When the candle is burnt down to a quarter of its original length,
the flame is extinguished. The candle can then be cut to examine what has
been drawn out of the ear. The results can be truly amazing.
